What are real customers saying about the new Peterbilt Model 589?

We caught up with Peterbilt customers at the 2025 Semi Casual Truck Show in Crossville, Tennessee, who couldn’t wait to talk about their customized Model 589s. After all, who isn’t excited to talk about their custom truck! Their stories and passion for these impressive models reflect the spirit of the trucking community and the Pride of Peterbilt.

“...it was one of those decisions that was fairly easy.”

Chad Berry is co-owner of Berry Trucking LLC in northern Wisconsin. “We've got four trucks. Keep it smaller, keep it family-oriented,” he said. Chad was a fan of the Peterbilt Model 589 right from the start. “We were actually at the 589 reveal,” he told us. When it was time for a new truck, the decision wasn’t hard for his company. “Peterbilt’s always treated us right, you know... it was one of those decisions that was fairly easy.”

“I've probably built 40 custom trucks over the years.”

Jerad Whittwer is president of Performance Diesel Inc. And he has a big love for custom trucks. He was excited about the introduction of the Peterbilt Model 589. In addition to its great looks, Jerad appreciates the performance of the Model 589. “...the 589 brings that classic look. And actually, a lot of drivability...like the turning radius. If you want a new truck that drives and is not going to, you know, wear you out to get there, the 589 is the ticket.”

“...honestly, I fell in love with them.”

Cody Scott is a driver for Wood Booger Transport LLC. And he’s a big fan of the Peterbilt Model 589. “...I currently drive a 2026 Peterbilt Model 589 flattop,” he said. Cody told us he loves the endless customization opportunities. “They're still coming out with more stuff you can do to them, different styles. You can customize the 589s and make them look any way you want them to look.”

“Moving into the new trucks has really helped our business.”

Kyle Flake, founder of High Country Freight LLC, described his company’s transition into new Peterbilt trucks: “...since we added our first new truck, which has been roughly about a year ago, man, we haven't looked back.” Kyle said he chose new Model 589s to streamline his business. And it’s worked. “We have a lot happier customers and we have a lot happier drivers.”
