20K Steerable Pusher Axle Insufficient Air Volume

In accordance with the Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Act, PACCAR Inc has determined to recall the vehicles below.

Description of Defect/Non-compliance

Certain tractors equipped with 20K steerable pusher axles were built with total air capacity that is 3.7-8.9% less volume than required to meet CMVSS 121 requirements.

Safety Risk

Insufficient air volume may lead to reduced service brake performance which could increase the risk of a crash.

Cause

A programming error incorrectly identified the brake chamber used in the vehicle, thus resulting in an incorrect calculation of the air volume requirement.

Production Dates: 02-14-25

Description of Remedy

Trucks with insufficient air volume will have air volume added by either replacing existing tanks with larger tanks or installing additional air tanks to satisfy CMVSS 121 requirements.
