Three phases of improvements to Peterbilt’s Denton, Texas, manufacturing facility are complete and the new building expansion is on schedule to begin operations in January, Peterbilt Motors Company announced during the ATA Management Conference & Exhibition in Las Vegas.
"Continuous investment and commitment to excellence keep Peterbilt’s Denton plant a manufacturing leader in quality, efficiency and productivity,” said Darrin Siver, Peterbilt General Manager and PACCAR Vice President. “The recently completed improvements and the addition of the new facility will help ensure Peterbilt continues to provide customers with the industry’s top performing, most reliable and greatest value trucks well into the future.”
The plant improvements include additional east side dock doors for increased receiving capacity, 17,000 square feet of new material receiving area on the west side and an automated storage and retrieval system on the second level of the building for painted hoods, cabs and sleepers.
Earlier this year Peterbilt began construction for a new 102,000 square-foot building on the same grounds just north of the plant. The expansion will provide additional capacity for production and testing.
