Huck-bolted with lap seam construction, it offers years of virtually watertight performance. The durable Metton® hood is optimized for road and construction sites, withstanding impacts that would shatter or crack other materials. Available with either the PACCAR PX-7 or the PACCAR PX-9, the 348 has the power to get the job done. The 6.7-liter PACCAR PX-7 Engine delivers superior performance, minimizes operational costs and maximizes uptime for medium-duty customers. Reduced maintenance, long service intervals and excellent fuel efficiency add up to a superior lifetime value. The PACCAR PX-7 is available in horsepower ratings from 200 to 360hp and offers up to 800 lb-ft of torque. The 8.9-liter PACCAR PX-9 Engine has one of the highest power-to-weight ratios in its class, with heavy-duty features like replaceable wet liners, roller cam followers, bypass oil filtration and targeted piston-cooling. Available in both medium- and heavy-duty configurations, PACCAR PX Engine options give customers in traditional Class 7, Class 8, vocational or specialty applications outstanding fuel economy, greater reliability and unsurpassed performance.
Where Form and Function meet.
The Model 348's technology starts as soon as the driver sits behind the wheel. The LED backlit gauges readily communicate systems status and are designed to reduce eye strain. The standard driver's in-dash display includes virtual gauges and truck, trip and performance information in driver-selectable English, French or Spanish.
The Model 348 is available as an electric hybrid with the Eaton Hybrid Electric System. This system features a hybrid drive unit, which includes a 340-volt motor/generator, an Eaton UltraShift transmission and an automatic linear clutch actuator. When the diesel engine is combined with the Hybrid drive unit, the power is boosted to 320 hp and a torque limited 860 lb-ft of torque.
Heavy-Duty Vocational Options
Designed for virtually any specialty application, the Model 348 is one of Peterbilt's most versatile vocational trucks and is available in either a truck or tractor configuration with a GVW between 33,000-66,000 lbs. It is also available in an all-wheel-drive configuration to provide vocational customers enhanced off-road versatility, increased maneuverability and an easy transition from all-terrain to urban streets. Customers can customize a vehicle to meet their business' exact requirements, with a wide variety of heavy-duty suspension and vocational options in both single and tandem axles.
Where Form and Function Work
Every detail in Peterbilt's medium duty interior has been thoughtfully designed to create a comfortable and productive working environment. The ergonomic dash features LED backlit gauges that are easy to read, a driver information display for critical vehicle data, and rocker switches within easy reach. An in-mold process embeds color directly onto the dash for a long-lasting finish, virtually eliminating fading, scratching and peeling.
