Peterbilt innovations reduce operating costs.
The Model 382 provides outstanding quality, exceptional reliability and superior fuel efficiency, which combine to provide an overall low cost of ownership for drivers and fleets. Available as an alternative fuel platform – compressed (CNG) – the Model 382 combines versatility and value. The Model 382 is available with a selection of fairings, skirts and closeouts that can provide up to a 15% improvement in fuel efficiency.
All Peterbilt natural gas platform vehicles are equipped with the Cummins Westport ISL G engine, which offers a 320 horsepower rating and 1,000 lb-ft of torque and provides an extremely efficient fuel-to-power ratio. Efficient and emissions compliant, the ISL G natural gas engine produces horsepower and torque comparable in capability and service to the diesel engines. The CNG platform is part of Peterbilt's family of alternative fuel vehicles; the industry's most comprehensive environmentally responsible lineup.
The 8.9-liter PACCAR PX-9 engine has one of the highest power-to-weight ratios in its class, with heavy-duty features like replaceable wet liners, roller cam followers, bypass oil filtration and targeted piston-cooling.
Available in both medium- and heavy-duty configurations, this engine delivers the durability and efficiency needed to lower operating expenses, reduce maintenance and increase productivity.
The 382 interior features the revolutionary SmartNav system, an in-dash, infotainment system. SmartNav features a 7-inch touch screen that provides real-time vehicle monitoring, a truck-specific Garmin navigation system, hands-free Bluetooth® connectivity, voice recognition, a fully integrated audio system with satellite radio as well as MP3, USB and iPod® capabilities.
Comfortable and versatile.
The Model 382 interior is ergonomically designed for maximum operator comfort and productivity. Backlit gauges, door panel controls and rocker switches are all easy to read and within easy reach. Peterbilt’s interiors feature a multi-function turnstalk and a pedal package that includes a “dead pedal” for a more comfortable, ergonomic driver environment. The Model 382 is available with a selection of Peterbilt’s lightweight suspensions, including the Low Air Leaf, that provides a smooth, controlled ride.
A robust gas spring design allows for easier opening and closing of the battery/tool box and helps ensure items are stored safely and securely. Steering geometry delivers a 50-degree wheel cut allowing drivers to easily maneuver in congested urban environments as well as tight loading and unloading conditions. An anti-blow-down locking mechanism prevents unintentional closure of the hood while being serviced.
