What is TruckCare?
Peterbilt TruckCare Services is a comprehensive line-up of support programs offered exclusively through Peterbilt dealerships. These programs include:

   TruckCare Customer Assistance
   TruckCare Customer Services Card
   TruckCare QuickCare Services
   TruckCare Connect
   TruckCare Fleet ECAT
   TruckCare Preventive Maintenance

Are TruckCare Services just for Peterbilt trucks? Are they limited to new trucks?
No to both. TruckCare Services can increase the uptime and longevity of any make or model of truck. All TruckCare Services are available to all makes of trucks. Peterbilt service technicians are truck experts, not just Peterbilt truck experts. Regardless of the make of your truck, your Peterbilt dealership can meet your maintenance needs. TruckCare Services are also available for both new and pre-owned trucks.
I recently purchased a pre-owned Peterbilt. What should I do about maintenance?

Maintenance requirements on pre-owned vehicles vary greatly depending on the vehicle's service history, mileage and past application. If you purchased your pre-owned truck from a Peterbilt dealership and it has been "Red Oval Certified," it has been thoroughly inspected and is in premium condition. The truck's owner's manual provides general maintenance recommendations, but not specifics to pre-owned or second life applications, and the Peterbilt salesperson who sold you the truck will be able to provide general guidelines.

Another source of maintenance information is the TMC Recommended Maintenance Practices Manual published by The Technology and Maintenance Council for more detailed maintenance guidelines.

Additionally, if you're purchasing from an individual or a non-Peterbilt dealer, you can bring the vehicle to your local Peterbilt dealer for a complete inspection to verify its condition and reduce the risk of potential problems to come.
I want to extend my oil drain intervals to 25,000 miles, what should I do?
Consult the engine maker's recommendations. Oil sampling may be worthy of consideration. Don't forget the other components on the truck-shackles, king-pins, bushings, drivelines, etc. may need lubrication more often.
If I'm broken down or need service work and I'm far away from my local Peterbilt dealership, who should I call?

If you don't know who or where the nearest Peterbilt dealership is, contact the TruckCare Customer Assistance Center at 1-800-4PETERBILT (1-800-473-8372). In addition to offering breakdown support, you'll find that the staff can help you schedule service and find the nearest Peterbilt dealership.

In fact, it's a good idea to register your vehicle with the Customer Assistance Center before you need assistance to expedite your service. You can register online or by calling the Customer Assistance Center. It's free to register and there are no administrative fees to coordinate repairs or schedule maintenance.
How can I reduce my operating costs associated with maintenance?
The best way to reduce maintenance costs is to look at the big picture--your ownership costs over the entire life of the vehicle. The old adage, "an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure," takes on significant meaning when it comes to truck ownership. Rebuilding or replacing an engine is a very high-cost repair, especially if it failed prematurely because the engine oil wasn't changed regularly. Your Peterbilt dealer is an expert in recommending maintenance schedules and performing the service for you. They also have an extensive inventory of parts to meet your needs.
What is a comprehensive preventive maintenance program?
First, why have one? A comprehensive maintenance program helps keep the truck in top operating condition. Peterbilt dealers are a great resource in helping customers design a comprehensive maintenance program aimed at reducing operating costs. Keeping your truck in good operating condition improves economy and reduces costly breakdowns.

That said, Peterbilt offers a series of custom preventive maintenance options that can be tailored to fit customers' unique operating conditions. These can be designed to accommodate specific needs like regional operations, different mileages and customer requests. (like ECM readout during each service.) These comprehensive maintenance agreements help reduce operating costs while allowing customers to control costs by making monthly payments (they can even be included in the monthly truck payment through PACCAR Financing or automatically charged to the TruckCare Services card or major credit cards), for the ultimate in convenience.

I'm developing specifications for a new Peterbilt, what can I do to reduce maintenance costs?
Peterbilt offers several reduced maintenance options that include:
  • Peterbilt's Custom Spec program that provides a combination of performance-proven specification combinations and includes extended basic vehicle warranty coverage. For additional detail, contact your local Peterbilt sales representative.
  • SPL-XL(SpicerLife) drivelines
  • SOLO "self adjusting" clutch
  • Delco 33-34si alternator
  • Dana-Spicer LMS (Low Maintenance System) hub/axle option, which includes Eaton Outrunner Wheel Seals
  • Huckbolted frame rails
  • Water filter should be included to aid in cooling system maintenance. (Note: a water filter contributes to a better cooling system life, but doesn't preclude checking the anti-freeze or changing the water filter.)
  • Silicone radiator/coolant hoses
What can I do to extend the life of my tires?
Check inflation pressure with a good tire gauge weekly and record the pressures. Under-inflated tires have more rolling resistance, which affects tire life and fuel mileage. Performing this inspection will help you spot air loss trends or a slow leak. For additional information on tire maintenance, refer to The Technology and Maintenance Council-recommended practice "TMC RP 642" and the Radial Tire Conditions Analysis Guide published by TMC.
