Nov 02 2009 PETERBILT RECOGNIZED FOR ENVIRONMENTAL INITIATIVES BY NORTH TEXAS CLEAN AIR COALITION
FORT WORTH, Texas (November 1, 2009) – Peterbilt Motors Company received the 2009 Clean Air Champion Award from the North Texas Clean Air Coalition (NTCAC) for the second consecutive year, as well as their Innovative Business of the Year Award, at the NTCAC Annual Awards presentation in Fort Worth, Texas.

Peterbilt was chosen as Clean Air Champion for voluntarily working to lower the environmental impact of its products and manufacturing processes in the greater North Texas area.  The award recognized Peterbilt’s multiple air quality initiatives including employee commuting programs, no idling regulations on property and ozone restricted landscaping.

“We are extremely proud to accept the Clean Air Champion award once again for our environmental efforts and pledge that we will continue to enrich our business and manufacturing efforts with practices to provide beneficial environmental outcomes,” said Bill Jackson, Peterbilt General Manager and PACCAR Vice President.

Peterbilt was also awarded the 2009 Innovative Business of the Year award for its reduction of Hazardous Air Pollutants (HAPs) from its Denton, Texas manufacturing facility.  This program dramatically reduced the amount of particulate matter released into the air from the Denton factory’s paint booth to less than a pound (0.68 lbs) per truck.

Peterbilt General Manager Bill Jackson said, “Our primary objective was to reduce emissions from our facilities and improve the air quality of our community.  We will continue to work proactively on additional technologies that benefit the overall air quality in North Texas.”

Peterbilt’s Senior Director of Strategic Business Planning, Tony McQuary, works directly with NTCAC as part of the company’s ongoing partnerships to further improve the air quality and environment in the Dallas / Fort Worth region, and stated, “Peterbilt works to reduce our environmental impact throughout the manufacturing process as well as in our daily business operations.  We have been highly successful in our recycling efforts and reduction of refuse, and have achieved the goal of Zero Waste to Landfill for our Denton facility.”
