Peterbilt Motors Company’s manufacturing facilities have all received ISO 14001 certification. This certification is an internationally recognized standard that provides the basic framework for managing environmental impacts. Earning this certification confirms Peterbilt’s commitment to operate in an environmentally sustainable manner. Peterbilt Nashville was the first PACCAR facility in the United States to achieve ISO 14001 environmental certification in September of 2007; the Denton facility followed by earning certification in November.
Certification requires that employees be aware of how their job can impact the environment and know what their organization is doing toward achieving environmental goals. All of our facilities have aggressive targets for continuous reduction of air emissions, packaging waste, waste solvent, hazardous waste, energy use and land fill disposal.
A company wide philosophy that ensures that Peterbilt continues to act in a way which promotes recycling and reduces pollution and waste is maintained by both our management and our employees. There is a natural synergy between ISO 14001 and our corporate focus.
“Peterbilt is committed to reduce, reuse and recycle waste and to preserve the environment. Our facilities are dedicated to process improvements to meet our conservation goals,” says Bill Jackson, Peterbilt General Manager and PACCAR Vice President. “Peterbilt is also proud to be at the forefront of advanced hybrid vehicle development by offering green solutions for both the medium- and heavy-duty markets that reduce their carbon emissions footprint through improved fuel economy and reduced emissions.”
