Notice of CARB Voucher Program

Peterbilt Motors Company offers the widest range of hybrid electric medium duty vehicles in the commercial truck industry. Our award winning medium duty trucks and tractors won the J.D. Power and Associates Medium Duty Truck Study award in 2009 and in 7 of the last ten years.

Starting on January 29, 2010 the California Air Resources Board is offering HVIP vouchers that offset up to $35,000 towards the purchase of a Peterbilt medium duty hybrid truck. The program is available to all customers intending to operate a newly purchased hybrid truck or tractor in the state of California for a three year period, and is offered on a first-come, first-served basis. The CARB HVIP program does not require a one-for-one replacement of an old vehicle. Peterbilt dealerships have enrolled in the HVIP program and Peterbilt has build slots available for the quick production of hybrid vehicles. The CARB HVIP funding can be combined with Federal Tax Credits for hybrid vehicles once the credits are reenacted for 2010 (pending government approval).

Peterbilt hybrid trucks and tractors offer outstanding benefits, including:

  • Hybrid Power: The Peterbilt Model 330, 337, and 348 hybrid truck and tractor incorporates proven hybrid technology from Eaton Corporation.
  • The PACCAR engines use proven 2010 SCR emissions technology and require no future CARB upgrades.
  • Peterbilt offers special financing and leasing programs for hybrid trucks through PACCAR Financial and PACCAR Leasing.

    • CARB expects strong interest in this program and has funding available for approximately 800 hybrid vehicles. All applications for CARB HVIP funding must be made through an authorized Peterbilt dealer.
