PETERBILT NORTH AMERICAN TOUR CONTINUES SUCCESSFUL JOURNEY ACROSS NORTH AMERICA
Denton, TX (September 10, 2010)
Peterbilt's North American Tour continues its journey across North America this summer as it showcases the new PACCAR MX engine and Peterbilt's new Model 587. Over 9,000 transportation company representatives have experienced the trailer at 60 Peterbilt dealer locations since it began in May, with another 40 locations currently scheduled before the tour concludes in December.
"The North American Tour has been extremely successful in bringing exciting new products to our customers highlighting the operational advantages of the PACCAR MX engine and the Model 587. In fact, we have extended the tour two months in order to accommodate the numerous requests from our dealers for additional stops," said Bill Jackson, PACCAR Vice President and Peterbilt General Manager.
The MX engine, which was launched earlier this year, features a proven design that provides customers industry-leading quality, superior fuel economy, exceptional reliability and a low overall cost of ownership. In addition to the Model 587, the MX engine is available in Peterbilt's complete line of aerodynamic and vocational products.
The tour has covered over 30,000 miles since May, including Canada and the United States. The tour has begun making its eastern trek through North America providing customers a number of opportunities to experience Peterbilt's new products. Dealers are also showcasing their dealerships or hosting creative events at locations such as the Cleveland Browns stadium, to educate and entertain their customers.
The trailer is pulled by a new Model 587 with a PACCAR MX engine. The dedicated tour driver, Daryl Saunders, has been with the tour since the beginning and often plays host to the trailer displays and the ride and drives. Customers have enjoyed Mr. Saunders sharing his experience with tour stop participants about these exciting new products and providing additional information on how they perform in the field.
"The MX trailer was fantastic! It was a wonderful showcase for our customers to experience and an impressive demonstration of the highest quality and performance the MX engine and the Model 587 delivers," said Blake Jackson, Dealer Principal of Peterbilt of Utah, Idaho and Grand Junction. "We were able to educate our customer base with the features and advantages of our new products, and illustrate how our trained technicians and service representatives can support their business!"
Don Crowley, owner of Cortez, Colorado-based High Country Transportation, was one of over 350 customers who attended events at Jackson's dealer locations. Crowley said, "The tour experience and the opportunity to drive Peterbilt's with the PACCAR MX engine completely sold me. The MX was extremely quiet and we're already making plans to incorporate MX engines into our fleet of Peterbilt trucks."
"I have witnessed amazing changes over the past 30 years," said Susan Bishop, one of Denton's first employees. "But what has remained consistent through the decades is the great pride and passion I, and all of my fellow co-workers, bring to the job every day. We are dedicated to delivering our customers the very best truck possible and I feel honored to represent one of the best brands in the world."
Rush Peterbilt Truck Centers hosted more than 500 customers at the tour event at its Dallas dealership.
Attendee Doug Vandever, owner of Vandever Trucking out of Sanger, Texas said, "I was very impressed with the Model 388 Day Cab equipped with the new MX engine. I found the engine very responsive and what was even more impressive was the lack of noise from the engine. I couldn't believe how quiet it was."
"The PACCAR MX engine is the perfect fit for the Las Vegas truck market," said Scott Pearson, president of Peterbilt of Las Vegas. "Our customers are very interested in this new engine from PACCAR, as evidenced by the 300 people who attended our open house to view the incredible MX display trailer and the engine installed in our new Peterbilt vocational trucks we have in inventory."
In addition to the MX engine and Model 587, Peterbilt's North American Tour features SmartNavTM, a new a state-of-the-art system that offers navigation, vehicle diagnostics as well as communication and entertainment technologies in a touch-screen unit specifically customized for the trucking industry that is integrated seamlessly into the dash.
