Peterbilt takes pride in its history of innovation and purposeful design, but being a leader goes beyond what we make. As a global citizen, Peterbilt recognizes its responsibility and continually strives to reduce the environmental impact of the work we do and the products we create.
From the earliest stages of product design through manufacturing and recycling, we are committed to keeping our activities and our products environmentally sound. Each aspect of the design cycle provides significant challenges, but through dedication and cooperation, our efforts have resulted in impressive results.
Peterbilt Motors Company’s manufacturing facilities have all received ISO 14001 certification. All of our facilities have aggressive targets for continuous reduction of air emissions, packaging waste, waste solvent, hazardous waste, energy use and landfill disposal.
There is a natural synergy between ISO 14001 and our corporate focus. Both management and employees maintain a company-wide philosophy that ensures Peterbilt continues to promote recycling and reduce pollution and waste.
Peterbilt takes a holistic view of recycling and waste reduction. We have programs in all of our locations in North America to facilitate the recycling of materials, diverting thousands of pounds of waste from landfills.
To date, our achieved goals include:
Peterbilt’s environmental initiatives were recognized by the North Texas Commission, which awarded us its highest honor with the North Texas Clean Air Champion award. The award noted Peterbilt’s environmental stewardship throughout all of its North Texas locations.
Peterbilt trucks are among the industry’s most environmentally clean and fuel efficient. From our exceptionally aerodynamic Model 579 EPIQ to the APEX drivetrain (powered by the PACCAR MX-13), Peterbilt advanced technologies and groundbreaking innovations continue to provide greater returns for our customers while positively impacting environmental stewardship.
Additionally, Peterbilt offers a large portfolio of natural-gas-powered vehicles, providing a versatile vehicle solution for the full range of our customers’ requirements. Peterbilt offers vehicle configurations in both compressed natural gas (CNG) and liquefied natural gas (LNG). The company’s flagship on-highway Model 579 and vocational Model 567 are offered in both CNG and LNG configurations. The specialty low-cab forward Models 520 and 320 can also be spec’d with CNG or LNG power. For medium-duty customers, the versatile Model 337 and robust Model 348 are both available with CNG.
